If you’re looking for remote part-time work you need to look no farther than Lionbridge AI.  Their work from home jobs are flexible and allow you to work on your own schedule on a part-time basis.

Is it Legit?

A lot of people often ask is Lionbridge AI legit or is it a scam.  I can say that I have worked for Lionbridge AI as a Ads Assessor Independent Contractor since June 2018 and have been paid each month (On time) for my work.  I have had nothing but a great experience working for Lionbridge AI and would love to share my experience with those who are looking for remote part-time work.  Because of my background as a Independent contractor for the company, I feel that I am able to offer my honest opinion in review of the company and can confirm with confidence that it is a legit company.

What positions are available?

Lionbridge AI offers many flexible positions that can be done from home on your schedule.  The minimum time requirement for most jobs is 10 hours per week.  You can just log into the portal at anytime of day that is convenient for you and start to work.  If you can’t complete the 10 hour per week minimum you will need to log this as a black out period in their system. (Don’t worry there have been times that I have not worked the minimum hours and have still remained in good standing.)  Lionbridge is understanding and realizes that there may be times you cannot work the minimum hours required.  The maximum hours you can work are 20 hours per week but no more than 5 hours a day.

Some of the remote jobs available are:

  • Rater
  • Ads Assessor
  • Social Media Accessor
  • Web Content Assessor
  • Online Maps Quality Analyst
  • Multimedia Judge
  • Translator
  • Interpreter

Each role fulfills different responsibilities.  Sometimes you will be given the opportunity to qualify for other task.  For example, I started as a Ads Assessor and was given the opportunity to qualify for other task that are related to that role.

MY EXPERIENCE AS AN INTERNET ADS ASSESSOR

As an Internet Ads Assessor I get to work from home reviewing online advertisements.   The goal is to help improve the algorithms responsible for displaying ads.   I help with this goal by rating the quality and relevant attributes of the ad in relation to a particular search query that is provided in the task.    In essence my role serves to provide a human check on whether algorithms updates will return better ads to the user.   To undertake the assessment tasks,  as a rater I need to understand the context of the users search, what they want, and what their intentions are when making a particular search.  My role helps to collect data and train the artificial intelligence that will provide the best advertisement for the user.

To clarify, let’s look at an example.  When searching for a McDonalds restaurant the ad that is returned to the user in the search results must to some extent meet the users need.  This means that the ad should be adequate and satisfy must users who search for the results.  A good result would be a McDonalds located near the user.  A bad result would be if the search result returned a Wendy’s restaurant.  This is a very simplified example.  But, in the end, it’s all about understanding what the user is looking for and what ad would be relevant to satisfy their intent.

The pay rate for an Internet Ads Assessor at Lionbridge varies.  I make around $12.  There are no raises.  I have made the same amount since I started in 2018.  Assessors are paid per hour of task that are completed, according to predetermined productivity rates.  This means the salary per month can change depending on how many task are available.

The application process was pretty simple.  I applied through indeed but you can simply go to Lionbridge AI’s website and check for open positions for your country or residence.  There will be an application wizard to guide you .  I heard back from Lionbridge AI in 2 days, but it can take a anywhere from a couple of days, weeks, or even months for the team to review your application.  If everything succeeds, you will receive an email with further instructions and the scheduled date of the qualification exam.

You will receive the study material and exam details once you have accepted the terms & conditions of the program and the rate of pay.  The guidelines consist of several pages of instruction and examples on how to proceed for each rating scenario.

It’s very important that you actually read and understand the guidelines.

Don’t let the fact that you can use the guidelines during the test cause you to under prepare.  I cannot stress enough how essential it is that you carefully read through all of the material provided to have a better chance of passing the exam.  If you are unsuccessful or fail to the complete the exam within the expected timeframe, you normally will be given a second change to qualify.  If you fail the exam the second time, you will have to wait at least 6 months to apply again.  The time for the exam is unpaid.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  1. Fluency in English,  or native proficiency in the language spoken in the locale you are applying for
  2. Have been living and working in the country of application for the last 3 consecutive years
  3. Be updated about the news and have great cultural knowledge about your locale

BOTTOM LINE

Lionbridge AI offers a good part-time job to earn income from home on your own schedule.  But, it’s important to note that since you work as an Independent contractor, you may be let go without any warning.  In my opinion , for this reason you should not rely on this job to be a source of your main income.  This job is better suited for stay at home moms who want to earn a little extra cash, students, or someone looking for a side hustle to supplement income.

IS WHAT THE” SAY ABOUT LIONBRIDGE TRUE

“This job allows for you to work on your own schedule” – This is true.  I can work anytime task are available.  I can even work from my mobile phone or ipad completing task while waiting for an appointment.

“Lionbridge requires you to take an extremely long and tedious exam for qualification” – This is true.  I will not lie.  The exam is quite tedious and in my opinion the hardest barrier to getting the job.  But if you really study hard, you can pass it.  I failed the first time because I thought I could just skim the guidelines since we are allowed to use them when taking the test.  I was sadly mistaken.  I was lost even with use of the guidelines.  For this reason, I repeat it is important to really understand the material.

“My biggest complaint is that job security is next to none and if you are not up to quality standards within a few months you will get the boot and even if your quality level is good, one bad month and you will still get the boot” – The answer to this question is yes and no.  It is true that your contract can be terminated at any time.  But it’s been my experience that Lionbridge will work with you and provide you with chances to improve your quality.  Once I had to requalify because of quality concerns but for the most part I have been able to maintain quality standards for 3 years.

“There was no way to speak to anyone directly with questions, on a monthly basis they would send out criticism of your work.  The only contact was through emails.  Sometimes emails would go days unanswered or not be answered at all” – This has not been my experience when communicating with Lionbridge.  Yes, Lionbridge for the most part communicates via email.  However , they have always responded to my questions and concerns in a timely manner.  And yes, you will receive feedback concerning your job performance.  I have always found the feedback to be very useful and helps me to improve my rating accuracy.  Honestly, I don’t know of any job that does not provide feedback when work is performed incorrectly.

“I was dropped due to not meeting standards and received no warning or review.  No one you could ask for clarity or feedback on task to maintain the standards they want.”  –  I’m really having a hard time understanding why someone would make this comment.  It’s simply not been any part of my experience while working for Lionbridge.  I have received feedback on a monthly basis.  I have also asked questions via email and Lionbridge has ALWAYS responded.  I even had a one on one training session to go over material to improve by timing an accuracy while rating task.  Also upon passing the exam and even starting work task you will be granted access to what is called the community.  This website provides a lot of useful information that will help you perform up to the standards set by Lionbridge.  There is also a weekly call that you can join that allows you to ask questions and go over the most missed task in order to help you gain a better understanding of the guidelines and how to apply them.

“They constantly change their guidelines and mark things wrong on review even when it should be right according to the guidelines” – This is not true.  Each time there is a guideline update you have to acknowledge in the work portal  that you have read the update before you can receive task.
